Wow, it has been forever since I posted a new BOM. The Vintage Sampler BOM took 2 years to complete and so many of you enjoyed those vintage 30’s applique blocks. How many of you actually started that quilt?? LOL

Well, I finally finished my design for the new 2014 BOM and it is a bit different from my last one. I hope you like it. I am still tweaking the border and sashing, but it is pretty much done.
What I really need is a name! So I have a pile of fat quarters all tied up in a pretty bow which will go to the person that suggests the winning name for my new Block of the Month Quilt.
Here is how this one works. Each block will be available for 1 month for free. After 30 days a new block will be posted and the old one will be removed. Past blocks may be purchased on my website for $3.50 each. I will not honor any email requests for missed blocks.
Newsletter subscribers will also receive a link to the free block, plus a bonus block each month available only to newsletter subscribers. The sashing and border blocks and instructions will only be available to newsletter subscribers.

ReplyDeleteMany of the blocks remind me of those Celtic garden layouts you'd see on castle grounds around the UK. We spent 3 years stationed in England and loved roaming around the old castles. The gardens were stunning when in full bloom. Very graceful and beautiful. That's what I see when I look at your new blocks. How about the title of Reeze's Celtic Gardens?

Suddenly, I was walking along the warm sands, feasting on all the lovely color and foliage of the Mediterranean coast. I have to do this one, even though I had decided not to do BOMs this year! ReplyDeleteArabic Tiles came into my head. Don't know why. Reminds me of the accent tiles you can buy for outdoor cooking areas. These kind of tiles are a bit of happy for my eyes. Hope you can give us the border tile a little early as I would rather work on a couple of those every month than try to do them all at one go at the end, more likely to get it done before the next years boms pull me away. Can't tell you how many ufo's I have that just need the borders to be ready for quilting. As always your designs are inspiring. Thank you for sharing with us.

What a fabulous BOM Reese! To me, it has the feel of Celtic/Scottish stained glass/window type thing lol. I was thinking about 'Through the Looking Glass', but what about 'Celtic Windows' or 'My Highland Garden'? Sometimes naming a piece can take longer than it's creation :)

ReplyDeleteI traveled to Mexico a few weeks ago for business and walking around some of the other parts of the cities, I saw tiles that the ones in the BOM all over the place. The most notable were in small coffee shops or eateries. When I saw the blocks for this BOM, all I could think of was a nice siesta in one of those coffee shops.... so why not "Afternoon Siesta" or simply "Siesta".

I just found your site and BOM. I'm excited to participate. I've been wanting to make a quilt like this for awhile. It so reminds me of New Mexico and Santa Fe. New Mexico's slogan is "Land of Enchantment" so maybe Enchanted Tiles or Santa Fe surprise, Spanish Rose, Flamenco! I think I'll stop there.
