Time for A Give-Away!

While the blog tour was going on 2 weeks ago I was distracted and never got to celebrate the fact that my blog reached 100,000 hits!!  Now it is over 104,000 hits so I am way over due.  To thank all of you who faithfully read and enjoy my blog. . . . I am thinking you enjoy it or you wouldn't read it. . . or maybe you just look at the pictures. . . .ok, I digress. . . .ANYWAY, I am giving away 2 free issues of Quiltmaker's Magazine 100 Blocks:

AND a copy of my December Pointsettia and Holly Table Runner Pattern to both winners.

To enter the drawing for a free magazine AND a free pattern leave a comment on this post telling me what you think of next year's free Block of the month.  Here is a picture of it, and you can read more about it on my Free BOM Page.  Click on the tab at the top of the blog to go to the Free BOM Page.  I am anxious to hear if you think it is too busy, if I should simplify the border or setting triangles, or change the color scheme.  Let me know your ideas and suggestions so I can make adjustments to the design if necessary.

Jewels in the Crown Free Block of the Month for 2011

You are all the best.  Thanks for every one of those 104,000 + hits!

Hugs!  Reeze

  1. I love your BOM! I wouldn't change a thing, but since you're looking for feedback, one thought is you could simply the setting triangles. Great job as always! :)

  2. Ich bin begeistert und werde den schönen Quilt sicherlich mitnähen, so wie auch jetzt den Tulip Tiles.

  3. Love the blocks, love the colors. Maybe the setting triangles are a bit busy? And a tad daunting, perhaps? But it's very stained-glass-window-y, I like it a lot.

    Proud to know you!

  4. I love my copy you autographed so I just wanted to say THANKS! I wouldn't mind the free pattern though. The BOM is bright jeweltones. The off-white sashing is distracting to me. Alot of work in it. Congrats on the milestone!

  5. Yay another giveaway. - I love the BOM for next year. I love the bright colors.

  6. I love the triangle settings! Not a fan of plain "filler" triangles or squares between blocks as I never know how to quilt them. PLUS! this sash design lends itself to reversible quilt as you go method I just tried on a table runner by Sharon Pederson.

  7. I think it is beautiful as is - it sparkles, just as the name suggests. Great job.

  8. It's gorgeous! And all those pieced blocks in the center are just begging to pieced from the scrap bin. I love the setting triangles, but to be honest, I'd probably switch to plain ones myself. That would bring in a little "calmness" between the pieced top and borders.

  10. Reeze, LOVE your 2011 BOM!
Busy quilts (in my opinion) are generally more about fabric selections than the actual quilt pattern. You could certainly suggest a variation for those unable to visualize an alternate layout if you're really worried.
    Best Wishes,
    Heather =)

  11. I agree that the setting triangles are a little too busy, and the off white in the borders doesn't work for me. The blocks are beautiful!

I absolutely love the table runner/topper and would like to win the pattern. Thanks so much for another chance to win the magazine too!

  13. What woman doesn't love JEWELS!! Just beautiful, I'm thinking about what's in my stash right now.

  14. I am really liking the graphic nature of the new bom. I really like the way the borders just continue the look of a tiled floor. Just beautiful!

  15. Very awesome Reeze. Busy, yes. Too busy, no.
I would even make a quilt with only the setting triangle blocks... love them... And I love the double border set and color combination!

  16. I like the borders - it's nice to see pieced borders once in a while. I like the blocks but feel they might be a little busy. Maybe if you had fewer colors that unified all the blocks.

  17. I think I'd make the inner border and the setting triangles/squares in jewel tones. That change would provide a complement to the center and the pieced border, rather than the sharp contrast as pictured. I do like the block designs -- very much like stained glass!

  18. I love your new BOM ... love the bright colors and the way it looks like stained glass. I love your tablerunner pattern! Thanks for the giveaway.

  19. Reeze, I like it just as it is! I always love your designs though ;o). The stained glass aspect is lovely and will be fun to piece...a nice break from the applique. Thanks for another great BOM design.

  20. OMGosh! It's beautiful just as it is. I love the stained-glass looking borders for sure. That's what drew my attention. Nope I wouldn't want a thing changed. And I'm definitely going to be adding this BOM to my To-Do list. And the table topper is fantastic. I really really want that pattern!! :o)

  21. Oh, I love it!! Ack, it's sucking me in when I have a no-BOM policy in place!!

  22. Reeze,

I love the jewel tones in this quilt! I don't mind the busy setting triangles but I am worried about y-seams. (I'd love for you to do a tutorial on THOSE!) I was relieved to see that you can do all of this with paper-piecing. No y-seams, after all! :-)

I've only been quilting for a bit over two years and have never done such a complicated border. But, I'm trying to learn something new on every project. The decorative setting triangles and complex borders would give me PLENTY of opportunity to learn something on this quilt.

    I like it a lot!

  23. Reeze: This is a great design. However, since you are asking, I think the setting triangles should also be in jewel tones. That would add additional vibrance to the over-all look. It would also help to pull all the colors together instead of the white area that, to me, acts as a divider between the border and the jewels. I do look forward to participating in the BOM. Thanks.

  24. I love the BOM, I am design challenged so I defer to the creativity of others and look forward to the fun!

  25. What a great BOM you have planned for 2011 and I'm in. I only did 2 BOMs this year but your's has got me and the year has not even started yet.

  26. Very inspiring Quilt! Love the colors. Might you have another suggestion to replace the off white blocks for someone who might like a difference? Congrats on those hits and thanks for the giveaway.

  28. I like the look of the BOM - jewels - that is what it looks like so I would not chance any of it!

  29. I just love the look of next years BOM. It would be huge challenge for someone like me however as I am very new to quilting. The only thing I didn't necessarily like is the yellow in the center blocks but, that, I'm sure is just a matter of fabric choice. I love the multi-colored binding too. So pretty.

The table runner pattern would make me very happy as I have a close friend that loves anything Celtic because of her heritage and the border on that is perfect.

  30. Beautiful BOM! I love the setting triangles. It might have turned out too busy if you hadn't put on the white border. It calms down the busy-ness and frames the center 'crown jewels'.

  31. Beautiful, Reeze - I like the border, but the setting triangles scare me :^/

  32. Great job, Reeze! The outer border is too much cream for me--maybe change the triangles to a jewel tone?
